Piotr Wójcik is an associate professor at the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Economic Sciences and the head of the Data Science Lab research team. His research interests are focused on two areas. The first is regional and local development and in particular the measurement of inequalities and real economic convergence on a regional and local level. The second area is quantitative finance, in particular construction and testing of algorithmic trading strategies. Both areas of interest involve the use of advanced quantitative tools, mainly in R. In regional economics, he conducts research using spatial models and machine learning algorithms, including image recognition tools.
